The Gifu Pharmaceutical University ( Japanese 岐阜 薬 科 大学 , Gifu yakka daigaku ; English Gifu Pharmaceutical University , short: GPU ) is a municipal university in Japan . Since April 2010, the university administration has been located on the campus of the Medical Faculty of Gifu State University (Daigaku-nishi, Gifu in Gifu Prefecture ).

history

The university was founded in 1932 as the Gifu Pharmaceutical College ( 岐阜 薬 学 専 門 学校 , Gifu yakugaku semmon gakkō ). It was the first of Japan's municipal pharmaceutical colleges. The college developed into a university in 1949. Since 1953 there have been master’s courses, from 1965 “doctoral courses”. In the same year she moved to what is now the Mitahora campus. In 1998 she founded the affiliated pharmacy .

In recent years the university has been working with the Gifu State University. In 2007 they founded the joint doctoral courses ( United Graduate School of Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences, Gifu University ). In October 2009, a new school building for the Pharmaceutical University opened on the Gifu University Medical Faculty campus, and the university administration moved to the new building in 2010.

The university consists of one faculty - Faculty of Pharmacy.

Students on 1st – 3rd Grades attend the Mitahora campus ( 35 ° 28 ′ 37.2 ″  N , 136 ° 47 ′ 27.1 ″  E ). Students on the 4th – 6th Grades, master’s courses and doctoral courses visit the main campus (on the campus of the medical faculty of the University of Gifu).
