A Phialidus (plural: phialides ) is a bottle-shaped konidiogene cell in some filamentous fungi (Ascomycota).

The phialides can be formed inside a housing, for example in the genus Phoma (form group Coelomycetes ), branch off from otherwise undifferentiated hyphae, e.g. B. also from aerial hyphae, or z. B. be formed as conical outgrowths on the thickened end of a conidiophore (z. B. vesicle). Their length is constant. The first conidia arises enteroblasitically in the phialidus, after the conidia is constricted, a tear remains in the outer cell wall , the collar or colarette . If the crack is more than a conidial length away from the conidiogenic site, the conidia are endogenous from then on. Often a longer chain of conidia adheres to the end of the phialides.

Phialids are mostly monophialids . If (unicellular) phialides each have more than one conidiogenic end, these are called polyphialids .

In some hose fungi, such as various watering can molds ( Aspergillus ), the phialids are in several layers on top of each other. In this case the phialides of the lower layer are called primary phialids or prophialidus. The upper phialides are called secondary phialides.
