Phideaux Xavier |
Phideaux is a progressive rock band from the USA , which was formed by Phideaux Xavier, friends and Rich Hutchins.
history
Phideaux Xavier has played with several local rock bands in New York City , such as Sally Dick & Jane (Mirkwood), The Sun Machine and Satyricon. In 2002 he began composing material for the band's first official CD.
2003
In 2003 Phideaux released their first CD, Fiendish , which came to Germany in 2004.
Strictly speaking, it was not the first work, but the second release. In 1993 the band released their work Friction , which was not distributed by any major label and is now considered a rarity.
2004
In 2004 came the second album, Ghost Story , which was already heavier on progressive rock .
2005
In 2005 the band released the album Chupacabras , which contained the epic symphonic progressive rock song of the same name. In addition, the song Titan from the previous band was re-recorded by Phideaux Xavier and drummer Rich Hutchins, Satyricon . In the same year the album 313 was released , which is reminiscent of the sound of the late 1960s and was highly praised by the critics.
2006
In 2006 the very productive band released the concept album The Great Leap , which in turn received high acclaim from critics. Especially in light of the fact that three albums were released within a very short time. This album is the first in a trilogy dealing with authoritarian governments.
2007
In 2007 a more orchestral, symphonic progressive rock concept album was released, Doomsday Afternoon . That was the second part of the trilogy that started with The Great Leap .
2009
In 2009 Phideaux released the album Number Seven , which was not part of the trilogy that began with The Great Leap . It was about the life of a dormouse .
2018
In 2018 Phideaux released the double album Infernal , the third part of their trilogy on the topic of "eco terror tale" (eco-terror story).
style
Phideaux quickly moved from Art Rock with folk influences on their first CD to Progressive Rock with psychedelic influences . Other genres such as orchestral arrangements , rock , pop and mainstream were also used. Especially the mixing of different styles made it difficult for critics to assign the band to a clear style.
