Phil Hill (musician)
Phil Hill (* 1921 ) was an American jazz pianist .
Phil Hill was active in the Detroit jazz scene ; In 1948 he became the head of the house band of the Blue Bird Inn club ; In 1951 he lost this post. In 1948 the first private recordings were made there under his own name with bassist James "Beans" Richardson and drummer Art Mardigan , a medley of " Body and Soul " and " Lover Man ", as well as "Idaho". In July 1949 Hill recorded the tracks " Lester Leaps In " and " What Is This Thing Called Love? " With Wardell Gray, a guest at the Blue Bird Inn . " on; On October 1, 1949, he and his trio (and Tate Houston ) had the opportunity to accompany Charlie Parker on his guest appearance at the Detroit club ( Now's the Time ). On April 25, 1950, he was still involved in a recording session Wardell Gray for Prestige Records in Detroit, in which the tracks "A Sinner Kissed an Angel", "Treadin 'with Treadwell", "Blue Gray" and "Grayhound" emerged.
