Kind of mardigan

Arthur "Art" Mardigan (actually Arthur Mardigian ,) (* 12. February 1923 in Detroit , † 6. June 1977 in Detroit) was an American jazz - drummer .

Mardigan played at the beginning of his career with Tommy Reynolds (1942) and after completing his military service with Georgie Auld (1944). For the next few years he worked in New York City with Dexter Gordon , Charlie Parker , Allen Eager , Elliot Lawrence and Kai Winding . In 1952 he was a member of Woody Herman and His Orchestra ; In 1954 he played with Pete Rugolo and Jimmy Raney . He also led a sextet, which Al Cohn belonged to. From 1955 Mardigan was again active in Detroit and played in the house band of the Blue Bird Inn . In the 1970s he went on tour with Stan Getz . He was also involved in recordings by Getz, Nick Travis , Jimmy Rowles , Bill De Arango , Wardell Gray , Sarah Vaughan , Fats Navarro and Jack Brokensha (1963).
