Philharmonic Brass Zurich - General 5

The Philharmonic Brass Zurich - Generell5 (G5) is a Swiss brass formation.

Cast and style

The brass quintet consists of the following musicians: Patrik Arnold (trumpet), Christoph Luchsinger (trumpet), Thomas Gmünder (French horn), Xaver Sonderegger (trombone) and Markus Hauenstein (tuba).

The ensemble mainly plays styles such as classical, jazz, entertainment and folk music. As a G5, it also offers the audience comedy, the stage shows are rounded off with harmonious lighting. This genre worked with the directors Danièle Florence Perrin and Giuseppe Spina. Currently (as of 2016) the ensemble is working with Florian Rexer.

history

The five music students Thomas Biasotto, Mathias Elmer, Thomas Gmünder, Joachim Tanner and Markus Hauenstein from the then University of Music and Theater Zurich founded this formation in 2003. After leaving the ensemble, Thomas Biasotto was replaced by Anjan Fehl and again soon after by Andi Carniello-Hedinger.

With this line-up, the ensemble recorded six CDs and one DVD, performed ten concert tours and was booked around 30 times a year.

Andi Carniello and Mathias Elmer have not been in this formation since 2013. In 2014, the ensemble received the “Small Prix Walo”, one of the eight sponsorship awards from Show Szene Schweiz. In August 2015, Xaver Sonderegger, Christoph Luchsinger and Patrik Arnold joined three new band members. With the new line-up, the Tour Brass Jungle 2016, the CD with Jonas Herzog Autumn 2016 and the Let it Brass Spring 2017 program have been created.

Appearances

The ensemble plays 40–50 concerts per year, festivals, companies, cultural groups, parishes, churches, private z. B. at the Swiss Embassy in Berlin for the August 1st party , together with Acapickels and Iréne Schweizer , in Los Angeles at the Musical Variety Show for the Schweizerclub, on Swiss radio and television at Hopp dä Bäse and at Potz Musig with Lisa Stoll .
