Philipp Anton Watzke

Philipp Anton Watzke (at times also referred to as Philipp August Watzke , * 1803 ; † 1867 ) was an Austrian doctor and homeopath .

Life

Watzke came from Bohemia and studied medicine at the University of Vienna . After graduating with a doctorate, he turned to homeopathy.

Watzke contradicted the prominent critic of homeopathy Stanislaus von Töltényi , professor of pharmacology at the University of Vienna, in a frequently cited essay entitled Reply to Prof. von Töltenyi's essay, entitled: "The healing principle and homeopathy" . Together with Franz Wurmb , Friedrich Wilhelm Carl Fleischmann and Clemens Hampe , he founded the Association of Homeopathic Doctors for Physiological Drug Testing and was co-editor and at times editor of the Austrian Journal for Homeopathy .

Together with Wurmb he founded the homeopathic hospital in Vienna-Leopoldstadt .
