Philipp Hartwich (born September 11, 1995 in Cologne ) is a German basketball player .
career
Hartwich first played handball, only started playing basketball at club level at the RheinStars Cologne when he was under 18 and was promoted to the U19 team. With the men's team from Cologne, he became champion of the 2nd regional league in 2014.
In 2014 he went to the United States , began studying communications at the University of Portland, and was a member of the college's basketball team. While Hartwich remained inconspicuous in attack, he became a support for Portland in defense and set a new record for the university team in his four years at university with a total of 160 blocked throws. Hartwich was on the field for Portland in 117 games and averaged 2.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. His best playing year in statistical terms was the final season 2017/18, in which the Cologne-based player was on the starting line-up in all 32 games and recorded averages of 5.3 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per match.
He signed his first contract as a professional basketball player in summer 2018 with the Spanish second division club CB Peñas Huesca . In his first year as a professional, Hartwich was on the field in 34 games of the LEB Oro and averaged 5.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per encounter. In the summer of 2019 he changed clubs within the league and joined Melilla Baloncesto. In 24 sets of the season for Melilla, he averaged 6.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocked throws.
In the summer break of 2020, he made the leap into the basketball league , the Cologne-based player switched to Central German BC .
National team
In May 2018 Hartwich was appointed to the German A2 national team.
