from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philipp Jakob Zwerger (* 1685 ; † 1758 ) was a master bricklayer in Weilheim and Munich .

Life

The son of the Munich court mason Philipp Zwerger († 1702) began training as a mason only after his death. After a few years of wandering, he applied as a court mason foreman in Munich in 1713, but was turned down.

In 1717 he obtained the civil master mason right in Weilheim. The bricklaying trade in Munich refused to accept him even later (1722/23) until he became court architect in 1731. Zwerger mainly dealt with execution and repair orders from the court building authority.
