Philipp Wagner (medical doctor)

Philipp Wagner (born August 20, 1829 in Hildburghausen , † August 16, 1906 in Salzungen ) was a German physician and president of the General German Baths Association.

Life

Wagner attended high school in Hildburghausen , where he passed the school leaving examination at Easter 1849, and studied medicine in Jena and Würzburg . There he was a member of the Corps Franconia and Rhenania . After graduating as Dr. med. and the state examination passed in Meiningen , he became a general practitioner in Hildburghausen. Study trips then took him first to Prague and Vienna before he practiced again in Hildburghausen and then temporarily in Pößneck . On May 10, 1855, he took up the position as a spa doctor in Salzungen, where he was the head of the entire hygienic system until the end. In 1884 he was appointed to the Secret Medical Council. At the end of the 1890s, Wagner was a member of the ducal medical deputation and a district physician for the Salzungen district. Since the founding of the Thuringian and the General German Baths Association, he was their chairman. He made lasting contributions to the spa in Salzungen, the frequency of which was increased significantly during his activity.

In 1905, the city of Salzungen made Wagner an honorary citizen.
