Philippe Askenazy (born October 22, 1971 ) is a French economist. He is employed researcher at the CNRS and professor at the École normal supérieure in Paris-Jourdan.

Life

Askenazy has been a columnist for Le Monde since January 2008 , prior to which he wrote for Les Échos . He was one of the authors of the “Manifesto of the indignant economists” ( French Manifeste d'économistes atterrés ), which appeared in 2011.

Askenazy advocates the revaluation of marginalized professions and is of the opinion that certain population groups grab large parts of the economic rent , especially the knowledge rent and parts of the land rent . He is also of the opinion that, despite the media appreciation of start-up entrepreneurs, self-employed work is in reality declining.
