Artistic career

After Philippe Aymond obtained a master's degree in fine arts , he joined the studio of Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières in 1989 . There he worked on the series Canal Choc . In this series around a television station specializing in "shocking" news, young cartoonists should get their first chance. In addition to Aymond, these were Philippe Chapelle and Hugues Labiano . In order to make the series even more attractive, Moebius , Enki Bilal , Philippe Druillet and Annie Goetzinger also contributed drawings.

After graduating from Canal Choc , Christin wrote the single tracks L'Homme qui fait le tour du monde (1994) and Les voleurs de villes (1997) for Aymond . The latter volume tells the stories of two of the main characters from Canal Choc . Afterwards, Christin and Aymond started the Les 4 × 4 series . In this series aimed at a young target group, the experiences of four young people from four different countries are told. However, the series was canceled after four volumes for lack of success.

Based on scenarios by Laurent-Frédéric Bollée , Aymond then drew the series Apocalypse Mania from 2001 onwards based on the experiences of the time traveler Jacob Kandahar. Eight volumes were published here by 2010. At the same time, Aymond designed the adventures of the spy Lady S. from 2004 (text: Jean Van Hamme ). Ten albums were released here by 2015. In 2012, Aymond also worked as a scenarioist on his own for the first time with the two-part Highlands set in Scotland in 1745 .
