Life

Philippe Bohrer, an Alsatian farmer's son, learned the profession of cook, among others with Paul Bocuse , Jacques Lameloise , Bernard Loiseau and Philippe Gaertner . According to his own account, his parents' underestimation was a driving force behind his later top performance.

He was awarded one star by the Michelin Guide in his Philippe Bohrer restaurant in Rouffach, south of Colmar. From 2009 he cooked at the Au Crocodile restaurant in Strasbourg , together with Gautier Gaschy . Here, too, the kitchen is rated with one star, so that Philippe Bohrer was one of the few chefs who had Michelin stars in various restaurants. From 1989 to 2003, the restaurant was awarded three Michelin stars under the previous owner Émile Jung .

2014 loses Philippe Bohrer for its restaurant Philippe Bohrer in Rouffach the Guide Michelin -star and 2015, the Guide Michelin -star for Restaurant Au Crocodile in Strasbourg. In 2015 he sold his Au Crocodile restaurant in Strasbourg to Cédric Moulot .

Bohrer has expanded the former farmer's bistro in Rouffach, which burned out in 1981, into a small hotel complex with 48 3-star rooms, a gourmet restaurant and a brasserie, called Domaine de Rouffach .

Prix drill

Philippe Bohrer initiated a literary prize named after him, which is awarded to authors of books about the kitchen that were published in the year of the award. The first winner in 2012 was Eric Briffard . The jury awarded a special prize to Hugo Desnoyer . Eight other well-known Koch authors participated in the selection, including Paul Bocuse .
