Philippe Foerster
Philippe Foerster (born August 13, 1954 in Liège ) is a Belgian comic artist . He studied at the Institut Saint-Luc in Brussels and then drew a few short stories for Tintin magazine . He has been with Marcel Gotlib's Fluide Glacial magazine since 1979 .
Many of his albums are about the experiences of the poor character junk salesman Theophil Schlottermann (Théodule Gouâtremou) in a gloomy and terrifyingly magical reality in which everything seems to be possible, just no story that turns out really well. The extremely high-contrast black and white drawings contribute greatly to the atmosphere reminiscent of the stories of HP Lovecraft .
German translations appeared in the U-Comix series by Alpha Comic Verlag in the early 1990s .
