Philippe Morier-Genoud

Philippe Morier-Genoud (* 1944 in Thonon-les-Bains , France ) is a French actor .

Morier-Genoud studied philosophy and education in Grenoble from 1964 to 1968 ; During this time he met the theater director Georges Lavaudant and gained his first experience at the theater.

From 1975 to 1985 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Center Dramatique National des Alpes in Grenoble, from 1985 to 1995 at the Théâtre National Populaire in Villeurbanne and from 1995 to 2005 at the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Paris .

In 1981 he made his cinema debut alongside Gérard Depardieu and Fanny Ardant in François Truffaut's The Woman Next Door .

He is best known from François Truffaut's Auf Liebe und Tod (1983), Louis Malles Auf Wiedersehen, Kinder (1987), Jean-Paul Rappeneau's Cyrano von Bergerac (1990) and Raúl Ruiz 's Die Wiederfinde Zeit ( Le temps retrouvé , 1999) . In 2011 he again took on the role of Docteur Cottard in the film of the same name in the entire series In Search of Lost Time .

Awards

Philippe Morier-Genoud is an officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and Knight of the Ordre national du Mérite .
