Philippe Pumain

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Philippe Pumain is a French architect and building contractor who oversees some of the most prestigious, primarily public and controversial building projects. The architecture company operating under his name in the 5th arrondissement was founded in 1987.

Life

Pumain is a lecturer at the architecture school in La Villette and Paris-Malaquais. He also teaches design at the Institut de la Culture de la Communication et du Management (ICCOM).

To mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Musée Calvet in Avignon , an exhibition entitled "Fastueuse Égypte" was on view at the turn of the year 2011/12, under the direction of curator Odile Cavalier and Philippe Pumain in the role of architect-museographer. He was able to use his knowledge of the Egyptological environment during renovation work on the Le Louxor cinema in Paris, the outdoor work of which was completed in 2011.

He himself sees the roots of his work in his colleagues Aldo Rossi as well as in his compatriots Auguste Perret , Tony Garnier and Fernand Pouillon and their implementation of a “poetic rationalism”. In search of purity typological references to materials, architecture according to Pumain's understanding creates both subtle and expressive, sometimes strict, then colorful accents that make the practical value and property easily understandable.
