Philippe Saive

Philippe Saive (born July 2, 1971 in Liège ) is a former Belgian table tennis player . He was runner-up in 2001 with the team.

Career

Philippe Saive first joined the Donald Heuseux club, with whom he took part in the ETTU Cup. He later played with his brother Jean-Michel at Royal Villette Charleroi , then at Pantheon Brussels. Since 1987 he has been nominated for all world championships . His greatest success so far was second place at the 2001 World Cup with the Belgian team, in which his brother also played. At the European Championships he reached the semi-finals in 1994 and 2000.

He qualified three times for the Olympic Games, in 1992 in doubles with his brother Jean-Michel.

In 1997/98 he played in the German Bundesliga and became German champions with Borussia Düsseldorf . In 1998 he moved to TTC Frickenhausen , in 1999 to TTC Jülich (from 2002 SIG Combibloc Jülich), in 2004 to France to SMEC Metz.

Private

Saive's parents were very good table tennis players. His father was tenth in the Belgian rankings in 1971, his mother won the Belgian championship in 1969 in doubles B. Saive's older brother Jean-Michel is considered the best Belgian player.
