Photovoltaic Austria

The Photovoltaic Austria (PVA) is the advocacy of photovoltaics - and storage industry in Austria .

In 1996 the "Federal Association of Photovoltaics Austria" was founded as part of the ARGE Umwelt-Energie of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the ARGE was to promote the expansion of the photovoltaic industry in Austria. In April 2005, the ARGE was transformed into an association called "Photovoltaic Austria". The first president was co-founder Bernd J. Rumplmayr, the seat of the association was in Wels , Upper Austria.

In April 2008 there was a change in the board and the management of the association at the general assembly of the PVA. Since then, the association has been based in Vienna . The PVA currently (as of June 2018) represents around 230 members. The main tasks of the association are member information, advisory activities and public relations.

Hans Kronberger was president from 2008 to 2018 . In July 2019 Herbert Paierl was elected Chairman of the Board of the Federal Association of Photovoltaic Austria.

Goals of the association

  • Rapid amendment of the Green Electricity Act based on the German Renewable Energies Act to develop a strong home market.
  • Support programs for business start-ups in the photovoltaic industry and investment security for entrepreneurs.
  • Anchoring the mandatory use of photovoltaics in housing subsidies, building regulations and building guidelines.
  • Free access to and unrestricted use of renewable energy sources for all citizens.
  • Reduction of the distortion of competition in energy sources by taking into account the external costs of energy sources.
  • Creation of an active climate program for photovoltaics.
