Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish ( Arabic سليمان بن جاسر الحربش, DMG Sulaimān b. Ǧāsir al-Ḥarbaš , born November 6, 1942 in ar-Rass, Saudi Arabia ) is the current General Director of the Vienna-based OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID). In November 2013 he took up his third term of office; each of which is five years.

education

Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish studied economics and politics at the University of Cairo , where he took the BA exam in 1966. He graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, with a master's degree in economics in the USA in 1974 . In 1978 he took courses on The Economics of Oil Transportation in London.

Employment at OFID

Suleiman Jasir Al-Herbish has been the General Director and Managing Director of OFID since November 1st, 2003. Combating energy poverty around the world is one of his main priorities, which is also a central part of OFID's 2011-2013 loan program.

In 2010, Al-Herbish oversaw a partnership agreement with the World Bank , Andean Development Corporation (CAF) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development ( IFAD ). Another agreement took place in May 2011 with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Before taking office as OFID Director General, he served as OPEC Governor for Saudi Arabia for 13 years.
