Phyle (demos)
Phyle was an Attic demos in antiquity , that is, a regional subunit of the Athens polis .
The demos belonged to the kleisthenic phyle Oineis. It was north of Athens in the eastern area of the Parnes Mountains on the road that led to Tanagra and Thebes in Boiotien . This important passage was protected by a fortress named after the Demos (see Phyle (fortress) ).
