Phyle (demos)

Phyle was an Attic demos in antiquity , that is, a regional subunit of the Athens polis .

The demos belonged to the kleisthenic phyle Oineis. It was north of Athens in the eastern area of ​​the Parnes Mountains on the road that led to Tanagra and Thebes in Boiotien . This important passage was protected by a fortress named after the Demos (see Phyle (fortress) ).
