Pia Ahrenkilde-Hansen

Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen (born April 19, 1963 in Helleruplund ), also Pia Ahrenkilde, is a Danish EU civil servant and has been Director General of the Directorate-General for Communication since March 16, 2019 .

Life

Pia Ahrenkilde-Hansen studied at Copenhagen Business School from 1984 to 1990 and graduated with a Master of Science degree in International Business Administration and Modern Languages.

She joined the European Commission in 1991 and went through a career there with numerous stations in the field of press work. Between 1999 and 2004 she was press spokeswoman for various commissioners and presidents of the EU. In 2004 she became deputy chief press officer and headed the strategic planning group in the Directorate-General for Communication. She then held the position of Chief Press Officer of the Commission from 2009 to 2014. From 2014 to 2018 she was director responsible for the Commission's representations in the Member States. From March 2018 to March 2020 she worked in the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union , most recently as Deputy General Secretary.
