Piefke and Pafke and the guys from the darkroom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Piefke and Pafke and the guys from the darkroom was a band at the time of the Neue Deutsche Welle .

The group consisted of the musicians Manfred Wieczorke and Detlev Schmidtchen , both members of the German art rock band Eloy , as well as the lyricist and later magaScene Hannover publisher Reinhard Stroetmann . Their first single , originally released in 1982 on the Hanoverian underground label GeeBeeDee , ... and it goes off , was a parody of the Neue Deutsche Welle, with which they satirically portrayed the rapid flattening and commercialization of this genre . After a new release by Teldec , the NDW parody itself became a commercial success and reached number 58 in the German single charts in January 1983 .

In mid-1983 Piefke and Pafke released another single entitled Auf in die Galaxien , before the band members went their own way again.

Reinhard Stroetmann and Peter Frese recorded the single "Am Strand, am Strand" in 1983 under the cabaret project name (which has been running since 1971), working title Bone .

In 2008, Welle: Erdball covered the 1982 single and released it as "And it goes from (C 64)" on the maxi CD "Ich bin aus Plastik".
