Pierluigi Rottigni

Pierluigi Rottigni (born December 16, 1947 in Vertova ) is an Italian enduro athlete .

Career

Pierluigi Rottigni started enduro sport in 1964. In 1968 he won the Italian championship in the class up to 100 cm³ with a Moto Morini . In 1972 he was third in the European Championship with a 125 cc Moto Morini and second in the following year with a 125 cc SWM . That year he also won the Italian off-road race Valli Bergamasche . He was able to repeat this success in 1974 and 1975.

In 1975 he won the Italian championship with a 125 cm³ SWM. With the Italian team he won the silver vase rating at the International Six-Day Tour on the Isle of Man . The following year he started in the class up to 175 cm³ and came third in the European Championship. He won a gold medal at the international six-day race and came third with the silver vase team. In 1977 and 1978 he succeeded again in winning the Italian championship in the 125 cc class with an SWM.

After the end of his active career, he became technical manager for the Italian national enduro team in 1982. During this time, the team won the 1986 Trophy and Junior Trophy classification at the International Six-Day Race, the Junior Trophy classification again in 1988 and the Trophy classification again in 1989.

From 1990 to 1995 he headed Aprilia's enduro team .
