Pierre-Claude Nivelle de La Chaussée
Pierre Claude Nivelle de La Chaussée (born February 14, 1692 in Paris , † March 14, 1754 ibid) was a French playwright .
La Chaussée only went public with a smaller poem in his 40th year, then turned to the theater and became the founder of the so-called comédie larmoyante . He wrote only in verse, strictly followed the rules of classical drama, and transferred his action to bourgeois circles. His situations lack any comedy.
From 1736 he was a member of the Académie française (Fauteuil 17).
