Pierre Certon (* around 1510 in Melun (?); † February 23, 1572 there ) was a French composer .
From 1529 he worked at Notre-Dame in Paris , where he was appointed director of the boys' choir in 1542. He returned to his homeland around 1560.
He composed masses and around fifty motets as well as other sacred vocal music, but around three hundred chansons have also survived, some of which contained texts that were daring for his time. The chanson Je ne l'ose dire is still known .
