Pierre Lantier

Pierre Lantier (born April 30, 1910 in Marseille , † April 4, 1998 in Ollioules ) was a French composer and music teacher.

Lantier studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Henri Busser , André Bloch , Georges Caussade and Philippe Gaubert and won the Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1937 . He worked at the Conservatoire de Paris and at the École normal de musique as a professor of harmony. The international interpretation competition Concours Pierre-Lantier goes back to him . Lantier was married to the composer Paule Maurice .

In addition to a Requiem from 1969, Lantier mainly composed chamber music works, including a Sicilienne for alto saxophone and piano.
