Pierre Rothschild

Pierre Rothschild (born May 1952 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss journalist and media entrepreneur .

Life

Rothschild is the son of Rabbi Lothar Rothschild . He attended primary and secondary schools in St. Gallen, then a private business school, from which he graduated with a commercial diploma. From May 1969 he completed a traineeship at the St. Galler Tagblatt , in 1972 he became an editor for TV, film and show business. In January 1974 he moved to Ringier , where he a. a. co-designed the newly created Glückspost . In January of the following year he became editor-in-chief of the Israelitisches Wochenblatt.

In 1978 Rothschild became a shareholder in the Manfred Marx AG publishing house (including the “Powerslide” car magazine) and joined its board of directors . Later he was the editor of its magazines with responsibility for budget, marketing, editing and advertising. At the same time, Rothschild acted as a consultant to the publisher Axel Springer . He acquired the Manfred Marx AG publishing house and sold it to Züri-Woche Verlags AG in 1992 . Rothschild has worked for the film producer Arthur Cohn since 1980 . In 1995 he co-founded the Swiss music TV broadcaster Swizz Music Television . After receiving the license and starting broadcasting in 1999, Rothschild worked as co-managing director and program director. In 2000/2002 the transmitter was sold to VIVA .

Today Pierre Rothschild works as a freelance media entrepreneur and in the private equity sector.
