Pierre de Larivey

Pierre de Larivey (born July 20, 1541 in Troyes , Département Aube , † February 12, 1619 ibid) was a French playwright .

Live and act

Larivey was born in Troyes to Italian parents and was the most important French comedy poet of the 16th century. Larivey's comedies were adaptations of Italian models and appeared in two parts in 1579 and 1611. A scene from Larivey's work Les Esprits was later taken up by Molière .
