Piers Edward Brownlow North, 10th Earl of Guilford (born March 9, 1971 ) is a British peer .

life and career

North was born in March 1971 to Edward Francis North, 9th Earl of Guilford (1933-1999) and Osyth Vere Napier Leeston († 1992). He lives in Waldershare Park in Dover (as of 2003). This property from the time of Wilhelm III. has been in the family since the 19th century.

Membership in the House of Lords

After his father's death in March 1999, he inherited the title of Earl of Guilford and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . According to Hansard , he never spoke up there. In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian , he explained that he was a professional photographer and had carried out an assignment in the Ivory Coast during his short time in Parliament . So he was never able to give a maiden speech in parliament.

Through the House of Lords Act 1999 he lost his seat. He did not run for one of the remaining seats. He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

On March 26, 1994, North married Michèle C. de Marigny, the daughter of Gilbert Desvaux de Marigny. You have 2 children:
