Pieter Borm , also Pieter Born , (active between 1650 and 1682 in Delft ) was a Dutch painter of the so-called Golden Age .

life and work

Little is known about the origin, artistic training and life of Pieter Borms. The earliest currently known mention of his person comes from the year 1652, when he was listed as a member of the Delft Guild of St. Luke under the name Pieter Born . Although he is always recorded in the guild books with the name Born, the last time in 1682 as Hooftman , he himself wrote his name as Borm . It is possible that he is identical to the one Pieter Born, who is said to have worked for a while in the workshop of the Flemish painter Anthonis van Dyck .

His artistic work is largely in the dark. At the moment only a representation of the flora signed with P. Bo (rm?) Is associated with him. The 35 × 28 cm oil painting on wood is currently owned by the IS Zilbershtein Collection in Moscow and has been on permanent loan to the Pushkin Museum (Inv.-No .: МЛК ЖЗ-11) since 1985 . Due to the lack of dating or other works by the artist, the date of origin of the picture can only be generally assumed to be in the later second half of the 17th century. From an artistic point of view, the painter of the picture must have been an experienced and skilled master.
