Pieter Haas

Pieter Haas (born May 14, 1963 in Vlaardingen ) is a Dutch manager . From 2017 to 2018 he was CEO of Ceconomy AG , having previously been CEO of Media-Saturn Holding since 2016.

Life

Haas studied economics at Nyenrode University of Economics . After graduating with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), he worked for the management consultancy Hay Group in Utrecht from 1986 to 1990.

Haas then worked for Buhrmann NV, Amsterdam, until 1993 , as Manager Business Development for the “Office Products” department. From 1993 to 1996 he was Managing Director Germany of Buhrmann NV

In 1996 he moved to Frankfurt as Managing Director of Corporate Express Deutschland GmbH, where he became Managing Director Western Europe in 1999.

In 2001 Haas moved to Media Markt Saturn Holding Nederland BV, Rotterdam, initially as a member of the management, from 2004 as spokesman and from 2006 as its chairman. In 2008 Haas became a member of the management and COO of Media-Saturn Holding GmbH, Ingolstadt, where he a. a. was responsible for corporate development, multichannel activities and IT.

In 2013, Haas was promoted to the Management Board of Metro AG , became Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH in 2014 and its Chairman in 2016. The minority owner of the Metro subsidiary Media-Saturn, Erich Kellerhals , saw his right to have a say threatened by Haas. According to observers, Kellerhals never forgave Haas to switch to the parent company.

After the subgroup Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG was spun off, Haas became CEO of Metro AG, which is now known as "Ceconomy".

On October 13, 2018, he was dismissed from Ceconomy AG with immediate effect after several profit warnings.
