Pieter Webeling
Pieter Webeling (* 1965 in Den Helder ) is a Dutch journalist and novelist.
Life
Pieter Webeling started as a journalist for the newspaper HP / De Tijd , since 1991 he has been a freelance journalist and interviewer for De Volkskrant and other newspapers. He also works as a speechwriter, conference leader and discussion moderator. With Frénk van der Linden he has been writing the series 34-vAGEN for the magazine Nieuwe Revu for years . Various parts of this have also been published as a book. The two were awarded the LOF-prijs voor Tijdschriftjournalistiek in 1998.
In October 2008 his debut novel Veertig Dagen was published , in October 2010 his second novel De lach en de dood . The novel Das Lachen und der Tod , published in German translation in 2013, found only a cautious reception by the reviewer Oliver Junge in the FAZ . The novel is about a comedian among the prisoners in Auschwitz . How one can stage the victory of humor and the humane over pain, Roberto Benigni showed that Webeling could not add anything to it.
