Pietro Giovanni Guarneri

Pietro Giovanni Guarneri (also Pietro Guarneri I , Pietro Guarneri of Mantua and Petrus Guarnerius , born February 18, 1655 in Cremona , † March 26, 1720 in Mantua ) was an Italian violin maker from the Cremonese luthier dynasty Guarneri . He is the eldest son and student of Andrea Guarneri , the founder of this dynasty.

Pietro Giovanni Guarneri initially worked in Cremona and later in Mantua. There he also worked as a violinist in the court orchestra of Duke Ferdinand Karl. "His instruments, which are valued, lack the brilliance."
