Pietro Porcarelli (* 10. April 1948 in Rome ) is an Italian diplomat in retirement .

Life

In 1974 he joined the foreign service. From 1977 to 1979 he was first class delegation secretary in Maputo . From 1980 to 1982 he was consul in Lausanne . From 1983 to 1984 he was consul in Algiers . From 1988 to 1989 he headed the Asia and Africa department. From 1989 to 1993 he was a counselor in the migration department of the embassy in Buenos Aires . From 1993 to 1996 he was Legation Counselor in Lima . From 1997 to 1998 he was head of the human resources department in Rome. From 1998 to 1999 he headed the Visa department. In 2000 he headed Department VI Migration.

From 2001 to 2006 he was ambassador to Guatemala.

From October 2009 to January 31, 2013 he was ambassador to Asunción .
