The stories were written by Elke Loewe , her husband Dietrich Loewe was responsible for the design and animation of the cartoons. The series was dubbed by Gottfried Kramer , he spoke both pigs and the narrator. From the first episode, which was broadcast on ARD-Sandmännchen in February 1973, to 1985 over 100 episodes were broadcast. In the early 1990s, the production of eight more episodes began again. However, with the death of Gottfried Kramer and Dietrich Loewe, the production of Piggeldy and Frederick was finally stopped. To this day, Piggeldy and Frederick is one of the most popular and well-known series by the then West Sandman.

content

Piggeldy embodies the eager little pig in the episodes who pester his big brother Frederick with questions. At the beginning of each episode, Piggeldy asks a very specific question. Frederick's answer is then each time: "Nothing easier than that, come with me." Then the two domestic pigs start moving, Frederick first puts Piggeldy's patience to the test by a long journey ("And they went and went and went") . Then Frederick tries, with more or less success, to answer Piggeldy's question and inquiries. The narrator ends each short story with the sentence: "And Piggeldy went home with Frederick".
