Piggs Peak (occasionally Pigg's Peak ; also "Africanized" Spiggy-Speegy or Spiggy ) is a place in Eswatini . It is located in Inkhundla Piggs Peak in the Hhohho region and has around 5750 inhabitants. The place is 1037 meters above sea level in the Highveld north of Mbabane . South of Piggs Peak is the dam Maguga Dam, north of the touristy significant waterfall Phophonyane Falls.

The place was founded in 1884 by gold prospectors . It was named after William Pigg, an early resident of the town. He discovered a gold mine that same year. Peak refers to the top of nearby Emlembe , the highest mountain Es. Gold was mined near the city until 1954.

Forestry is the main activity in the Piggs Peak area. Piggs Peak is known for its casino, which was popular with South Africans during the apartheid period due to the severe restrictions on gambling in their country. There is a state hospital in the city.

The city is on the MR1 , which starts west of Mbabane and leads across northern Swaziland to South Africa towards the Kruger National Park . The MR20 runs to the west via Bulembu to the South African border . From there it runs as the R40 to Barberton, among other places . The MR2 begins just north of Piggs Peak and heads east.
