from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

pikcha.tv is a paid subscription- based website that exclusively presents picture book films . Within this form of children's entertainment, pikcha.tv is referred to as the world's first online picture book channel. pikcha.tv was founded by Hamburg-based Childertainment GmbH & Co. KG, which presented the Internet station as a world first at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2008 . A year later, pikcha.tv also won the innovation prize for book online projects at the Frankfurt Book Fair. In 2012, Childertainment GmbH & Co. KG became mixtvision Digital GmbH & Co. KG, which is based in Munich and is the current operator of pikcha.tv.

The content and basis of the picture book films are well-known picture books and children's stories in a digitized film version - including stories by Janosch , the Sandman , with Pettersson and Findus , with Leo Lausemaus , with Princess Lillifee , as well as the letters of the traveling hare Felix . The texts for the stories are read by well-known speakers such as Stephan Schwartz , Reiner Hunold , Jochen Busse , Sissi Perlinger , Sarah Kuttner and others. The picture book stories are particularly aimed at children from 3 years of age. The focus is on a reduced-stimulus form of entertainment and a child-friendly introduction to media use.

The first pikcha.tv app for iOS devices appeared in 2010 . In the summer of 2013, a completely revised, new app was published that presents the picture book films on offer in HD quality.
