Pin the tail on the donkey ( Engl. : Pin-the-tail on , also known as donkey tail ) is a children's game , which is particularly common in the English-speaking world. It is played both on children's birthday parties and, in a modified form, by teenagers and adults as a drinking game .

regulate

A picture of a donkey is placed on a flat surface. Each player receives a tail, for example made of paper, with an attachment option such as an adhesive strip or a thumbtack . The tails can be marked with the name of the player in order to facilitate the later assignment. The player whose turn it is are blindfolded. After being rotated in a circle a few times to disorient him, he must run towards the picture and place the tail as close as possible to the correct place on the donkey picture. If the player is roughly wrong in the direction, the other players can warn and direct him with shouts. The winner is whoever has placed his tail closest to the correct place in the end. In general, however, the enjoyment of the sight of the blind player wandering around is more important than a victory.

Drinking game variant

In the adult version, the loser is the player whose tail has landed furthest away from the correct spot. The loser then has to drink an alcoholic beverage such as schnapps . The game is played in several rounds, with the increasing alcoholism of the other players causing further disorientation and comedy. A variant with a picture of a man or a stripper is also common at hen parties.

Similar games

In the Japanese game Fukuwarai , the missing parts such as nose, eyes, mouth etc. are freely placed on a face lying on a table. It is similar to the game Mr. Potato Head from Hasbro . Pot hitting is a breeze in which a blindfolded fellow player and a wooden spoon must find an upturned pot with a reward.
