Pingré is an impact crater on the southwestern edge of the front of the moon , northeast of Hausen crater and southwest of Inghirami . The rim of the crater is very badly eroded and the interior also shows numerous later impacts.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1961 after the French astronomer Alexandre Guy Pingré .
