Pinguicula crystallina is a carnivorous plant from the genus of fatty herbs ( Pinguicula ) in the monotypical section Cardiophyllum .
features
The adult plant has six to nine, thin, elliptical-elongated to ovate-elongated, light green leaves that are 15 to 30 mm long and 10 millimeters wide. Unlike other European species, it does not form hibernacles and has whitish-blue or pale pink flowers .
Distribution and habitat
Pinguicula crystallina ssp. crystallina is endemic to Cyprus , the subspecies Pinguicula crystallina ssp. hirtiflora, on the other hand, is more widespread and is also found in southern Italy, the former Yugoslavia, Albania and Greece. A French occurrence is considered anointed . The species prefers to settle on lime or serpentine on rock walls or in swollen, shady locations that are moistened by spray water or trickling over them.

One can distinguish the following subspecies:
- Pinguicula crystallina subsp. crystallina
- Pinguicula crystallina subsp. hirtiflora (Ten.) Strid : It is more widespread, with weaker growth and a short flower spur. Some authors also regard it as a separate species: Pinguicula hirtiflora Ten.
