Pinky Violence

Pinky Violence is the name of a series of exploitation films that were produced by the Japanese company Tōei in the first half of the 1970s . The mixture of action film and Pinku-Eiga elements is characteristic. In a broader sense, the term is also used as a genre designation and then includes comparable films from other studios.

Emergence

By the late 1960s , the position of the large Japanese production companies such as Tōei and Nikkatsu in the market had deteriorated. The situation was tense for them with imported foreign films and the emergence of television. In contrast, the Japanese sexploitation films, the Pinku eiga, continued to be popular. Until about 1970 these were mainly produced by small studios with a low budget.

At the beginning of the 1970s, the big studios discovered this market. While Nikkatsu brought the series Roman Porno into being, in which the main difference to the classic Pinku eiga of the 1960s was the higher budget, Tōei positioned himself with the Pinky Violence films between action films and Pinku eiga. The first Pinky Violence film was Zubekō Banchō: Yume wa Yoru Hiraku , which was released in 1970. It was directed by Kazuhiko Yamaguchi and Reiko Oshida played the leading role .

Pinky Violence films are action films with female protagonists. In many films, including the series Zubekō Banchō ( ず べ 公 番 長 , "female youth gang boss"), there are criminal youth gangs . One exception is The Tiger of Osaka , in which the protagonist is on the side of the law. In contrast to Pinku eiga, the protagonists are not portrayed exclusively as victims of violence, but rather use violence themselves. Frequent motives are gang wars with Yakuza clans and revenge .

The depiction of sexual intercourse takes a back seat to the action elements, in some cases there are even no sex scenes at all. However, nudity is a common element, and bondage and torture are also frequently shown.

• Onna Banchō: Noraneko Rokku (1970) and four sequels to Nikkatsu, including Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter! (1970). Meiko Kaji played the leading role, while Akiko Wada played a second leading role in the first part .
• Konketsuji Rika (1972) and two sequels of Tōhō with Rika Aoki in the lead role.
