The manga was published again in 1995 as Zero Woman: Keishi-chō 0-ka no Onna and in 2007 as Zero Woman R: Keishi-chō 0-ka no Onna / Yokubō no Daishō (Zero WOMAN R 警 視 庁 0 課 の 女 / 欲望 の 代償 ) filmed; there are also a total of seven direct-to-video productions of the material - referred to as Original Video (OV) in Japan .

action

Gang leader Yoshihide Nakahara (in the German version “Toky”) kidnaps the 22-year-old Kyōko Nagumo, daughter of an influential politician with ambitions for the office of prime minister , together with his brutal gang . The men are extremely unscrupulous and even kill the present lover of beauty, a simple worker. A little later the crooks rape the defenseless woman in the presence of Aki, Nakahara's younger brother. After the abuse, the kidnappers try to sell their humiliated victim to a brothel when the bizarre brothel mother informs them of the hostage's true identity. From then on, the five criminals try to extort a 30 million yen ransom from the respected Zengo Nagumo, Kyōko's father, with the pimp .

However, the politician is not willing to bow to the kidnappers' demands and therefore forms a death squad from his own people as well as police officers to bring down those responsible. Nagumo is trying to maintain discretion on this matter, fearing political damage shortly before the elections. Police officer Kusaka is assigned to save Kyōko and to cover up the kidnapping. He recruited the police officer Rei, who was arrested for an intentional homicide , specifically for this mission , in order to persuade her to cooperate and help with extortion, which is also successful.

As a red-clad undercover agent, Rei infiltrates the criminal group in order to secretly investigate the whereabouts of the hostage and to murder the guilty without much public concern. In order to achieve her goal, the strong-willed policewoman endures all kinds of tortures, humiliations and rape. With a stoic calm, she secures the respect of Nakahara, who, despite the concerns of some gang members, finally accepts her as a new addition. In the following years, however, Rei acts just as brutally as her tormentors and kills the lesbian puff mother without any major concern. She then makes a sham joint cause with the kidnappers, and thus determines the whereabouts of the drugged Kyōko. When, however, two ransom deliveries fail - Nagumo is convinced that if the money is handed over, his daughter will bless the time - and the ranks of the kidnappers gradually thinned, they realized that Rei must be an informer for the police. Nakahara is becoming more and more unscrupulous in his actions, he does not even shrink from fratricide.

When the gang leader escapes with two followers, the drugged Kyōko and the exposed Rei, Nagumo realizes that this matter can no longer be kept secret. He orders everyone involved, including his own daughter, to be liquidated. At the end of the film, the decimated gang members are harassed by Kusaka. In a wild firefight, the angry officer manages to eliminate some opponents. Kusaka himself is seriously injured. In this phase, Rei gets rid of Nakahara and later Kusaka with her eponymous red handcuffs. Then the self-confident and clever agent rescues and detoxifies the drugged Kyōko in order to present her to the media at the end of the film. This means Zengo Nagumo's political death.
