Pioneer Investments
The companies of the Pioneer Global Asset Management group appeared under the name Pioneer Investments . In December 2016, Pioneer Investments was taken over by the French fund company Amundi , which became the largest asset manager in Europe. The acquisition was completed in July 2017. With the renaming of the products in early 2018, the Pioneer Investments brand is a thing of the past.
Until 2016, Pioneer Investments was part of the Italian banking group UniCredit in Milan . In 2014 the group managed fund assets of 185.5 billion euros.
The company's origins go back to the business journalist Philip L. Carret , who founded the Pioneer Fund, the third oldest equity fund in the United States, in 1928 . Warren Buffett praised it as "the best long-term investment success in American history".
The German Pioneer Investments Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH was the new company of the Activest -Investmentgesellschaft mbH.
In Austria, the capital investment company of Bank Austria Creditanstalt , Capital Invest , was renamed Pioneer Investments Austria in the course of the restructuring following the takeover by UniCredit .

The first funds were founded in 1928 by Philip L. Carret. The fund volume exceeded the one million US dollar mark in 1951. Pioneer was the first asset manager to introduce mutual funds in Italy in 1967 . In 1969, Pioneer entered the German market as the first foreign fund company . In 1992 the first retail fund was marketed in Poland. UniCredit bought Pioneer Investments in 2000 . An investment center was established in Singapore in 2001. The company Momentum , best known for setting up fund of hedge funds , was founded in 2002. After Bulgaria, the company expanded in 2003, followed by India and Russia in 2007, and the Nordic countries and Latin America in 2008. The investment company Activest was acquired by HypoVereinsbank in 2006 .
In 2012, Pioneer concentrated its emerging markets investment activities in a new office in London and expanded into Asia. As part of its growth strategy, the company expanded to Mexico in 2013. Amundi acquired Pioneer in 2016. The acquisition was completed in 2017; thus the brand Pioneer Investments was given up outside the USA.
