history
In 1798 the merchant Giorgio Pirazzi , who came from Piedmont , founded a factory in Offenbach am Main for the production of strings for musical instruments. His descendants Joseph and Emil Pirazzi managed the family business and also played an important role in the history of Offenbach. In the 1890s, Gustav Pirazzi, who had taken over the company from his father Gasparro, the founder's son, decided to take on his friend Theodor Strobel as a partner.
When the company management was later transferred to Gustav Pirazzi, began under the company name Gustav Pirazzi & Comp. KG undertook a comprehensive modernization of the company.
Since January 1st, 2002 the company is called Pirastro GmbH . Today the company management is in the hands of Eva Müller-Zierach, a descendant of Gustav Pirazzi.
Products
Produced still PEEK -, nylon, gut and steel strings for violin , viola , cello and bass , matched thereto rosins and nylon, gut and steel strings for the harp . Production now takes place with 150 employees at two locations. Pirastro manufactures the strings on self-designed, computer-aided machines.
Examples of Pirastro products are the gut strings Passione , Oliv , Eudoxa and Chorda , the synthetically produced strings Evah Pirazzi , Obligato , Violino , Wondertone Solo and Tonica and the steel strings Flexocor Permanent , Piranito and Chromcor .
