Piret Rips (born January 19, 1965 in Valga ) is an Estonian composer .

Life

Piret Rips graduated from the Tallinn Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ) in 1983 with a degree in piano . In 1988, she graduated from State Tallinn conservatory ( Tallinna Riiklik Konservatoorium ) in the piano class of Liina Jõks . In 2004 Rips finished her studies in composition with René Eespere at the Estonian Music Academy ( Eesti Muusikaakadeemia ).

In 2004 she joined the Estonian Composers' Union ( Eesti Heliloojate Liit ). Piret Rips is one of the most famous contemporary composers of children's and youth songs in Estonia . Rips also composes sacred songs and works as a choir director. She also teaches the piano.
