Leelo Tungal
Leelo Tungal (born June 22, 1947 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian writer and poet. She is one of the most prolific contemporary children's and youth authors in Estonia .
Life
Leelo Tungal attended school in Ruila and Tallinn from 1954 to 1965 . She closed her studies in 1972 the Estonian philology at the State University of Tartu from. She then worked as a teacher for Estonian , then in the editorial offices of well-known (youth) magazines that appeared in the Estonian SSR , including Pioneer and Tahmeke . In 1979 she joined the Estonian SSR Writers' Union ( Eesti NSV Kirjanike Liit ).
In 1966 Leelo Tungal made her debut as a writer in the poetry anthology Kummaliselt kiivitajad kurtsid . She wrote numerous short stories, children's stories and poems, adult poetry and opera libretti . She also works as a translator from Russian , English and German . Leelo Tungal also writes well-known song lyrics. Her piece Muretut meelt ja südametuld represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 , the song Nagu merelaine took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 .
Tungal has been a freelance writer since 1984. In 1994 she founded Hea Laps ("The Good Child") magazine and became its editor-in-chief.

Private life
Leelo Tungal was married to the Estonian composer Raimo Kangro (1949-2001). The couple have three daughters, one of whom is the writer Maarja Kangro .
