List of municipalities in Lippe
This list contains all municipalities in Lippe with their territorial changes from 1879. The currently existing independent municipalities are highlighted in color. The municipalities that do not belong to Lippe themselves but have incorporated Lippe municipalities, as well as the localities (mostly municipalities before 1879), are indicated in italics with a municipality reference.
The areas that changed to Lippe are highlighted in green, those that left it are highlighted in red.

Names of the administrative units
- Until 1879, the highest administrative unit below the state level was called Amt (also Amtsgemeinde).
- From 1879 to 1928 it was called the administrative office .
- From April 1, 1928 to March 31, 1932, it was called the District Office .
- The two districts of Detmold and Lemgo existed from April 1, 1932.
- On January 1, 1973, both districts were merged to form the Lippe district.
- A city - initially also the area of Schwalenberg - which did not belong to any office, was designated as an office- free city until 1932 (Schwalenberg until 1906: office-free municipality).
- From April 1, 1932 until March 31, 1934 at the latest, the name is Stadtkreis .

Uninhabited forest districts
Until the end of 1967 there were numerous uninhabited forest districts . Their historical development cannot be given completely in every case. There were the following unincorporated forest districts with the changes:
- Berlebeck (601): The Berlebeck forest district belonged to the administrative office, from 1928 to the district office and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Detmold. It was dissolved around the end of 1967. His area was incorporated into the former municipality of Berlebeck.
- Brake (602): The Brake Forest District was part of the Brake Administrative Office. Around 1927 it was renamed Sternberg. It was dissolved towards the end of 1967. His area was incorporated into the former municipality of Brake .
- Detmold (615): The Detmold forest district was created by the renaming of the part of the previous Diestelbruch-Bexten forest district that was in the area of the Detmold administrative office around 1900. Around 1927 it was incorporated into the Horn Forest District.
- Diestelbruch-Bexten (603): The forest district of Diestelbruch-Bexten extended over the administrative offices Brake, Detmold and Schötmar. Around 1900 the forest district was dissolved and divided between the two new forest areas Detmold (previously part of the Detmold administrative office) and Lopshorn (previously part of the administrative offices of Brake and Schötmar).
- Falkenhagen (604): The forest district Falkenhagen belonged to the administrative office and from 1928 to the district office of Blomberg and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Detmold. It was dissolved around the end of 1967. Its area was incorporated into the former municipalities of Falkenhagen (main part) and Rischenau .
- Hiddesen (613): The forest district of Hiddesen was newly formed around 1890 from a part of the then municipality of Hiddesen. He belonged to the administrative office, from 1928 to the district office and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Detmold. Around 1927 it was enlarged to include the area of the former Lopshorn forest district. It was dissolved towards the end of 1967. His area was reintegrated into what was then the municipality of Hiddesen.
- Horn (614): The Horn forest district was created around 1890 when the previous Kohlstädt-Horn forest district was renamed . He belonged to the administrative office, from 1928 to the district office and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Detmold. Around 1927 it was enlarged to include the previous forest districts of Detmold and Oesterholz . It was dissolved towards the end of 1967. His area was reintegrated into the former municipality of Horn .
- Kohlstädt-Horn (605): The forest district Kohlstädt-Horn belonged to the Detmold administrative office. Around 1890 it was renamed the Horn Forest District.
- Langenholzhausen (616): The forest district Langenholzhausen was created around 1927. It belonged to the administrative office and from 1928 to the district office of Brake and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Lemgo. On July 1, 1966, he ceded parts of the area to the former communities of Asendorf , Bentorf , Hohenhausen , Langenholzhausen, Laßbruch , Silixen and Varenholz . It was dissolved towards the end of 1967. His remaining area was incorporated into what was then the municipality of Langenholzhausen.
- Lopshorn (606): The forest district of Lopshorn extended over the administrative offices Brake, Detmold and Schötmar. Around 1900 it was enlarged to include the areas of the previous Diestelbruch-Bexten forest district, which were located in the administrative offices of Brake and Schötmar . It was dissolved around 1927. His area was incorporated into what was then the Hiddesen forest district.
- Oesterholz (607): The Oesterholz forest district belonged to the Detmold administrative office. Around 1927 it was incorporated into the Horn Forest District.
- Schieder (608): The forest district Schieder belonged to the administrative office and from 1928 to the district office of Blomberg and from 1931 to the district (until 1938 district) Detmold. It was dissolved around the end of 1967. His area was incorporated into the former municipality of Schieder.
- Schwalenberg (609): The forest district Schwalenberg belonged to the administrative office Blomberg. It was dissolved around 1927.
- Siekholz (610): The forest district Siekholz belonged to the administrative office Blomberg. It was dissolved around 1927.
- Sternberg (611): The forest district Sternberg belonged to the administrative office Brake. Around 1967 it was renamed the Brake Forest District.
- Varenholz (612): The forest district belonged to the administrative office Brake. Around 1927 it was probably incorporated into the then municipality of Varenholz.
Specialty
The community Haustenbeck was formed on January 1, 1957 from large parts of the community Oesterholz . But as early as April 1, 1957, both communities were merged again, this time under the name Oesterholz-Haustenbeck . This means that Haustenbeck is the North Rhine-Westphalian municipality with the shortest lifespan of just three months or 90 days.
