Pottenhausen is a district of Lage in the district of Lippe in North Rhine-Westphalia and a former independent municipality with currently 1104 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2008).

geography

The core area of the village is formed by the area around the former Pottenhauser Krug, the buildings of which still have different functions today. Pottenhauser Heide and Auf dem Sande are further areas.

history

Pottenhausen was first mentioned in documents as Butdonhuson in the 10th century. The first reliable documentary survey can be found in the 2nd Corveyer Heberolle around 1080, when this is listed under the Iggenhausen office in the register as property of the monastery alongside other villages in the neighborhood.

Since that year, a sovereign privilege has allowed Gut Iggenhausen to have a “beer and brandy bar” in a house on the Werre “im Siek”. At that time there must have already been a bridge, because a contract from the Thirty Years' War reports on the creation of a garden for the "Siekkrug" and a repair of the bridge. In 1760 a new building was planned , but this became impossible due to looting during the Seven Years' War and high taxes.

In 1781 the Siekkrug was rebuilt and received the sovereign confirmation of the sale of home-brewed beer and brandy. The renovation now also made larger celebrations such as weddings, christenings and other gatherings possible.

On April 1, 1920, the place Iggenhausen was incorporated.

Pottenhausen was incorporated into the city of Lage on January 1, 1970.

The majority of the area of Pottenhausen still belongs to the manor Iggenhausen and the Meierhof zu Iggenhausen (today commonly referred to as the "Bussehof").

It is a prevalent mistake that the Reinholdi market takes place on Pottenhauser Grund. In reality, the property on which the fair takes place belongs to the neighboring village of Waddenhausen .

education

While the children are still in the Pottenhauser Kindergarten, elementary school students have been going to school in the neighboring village of Waddenhausen since the 1970s and mostly since 1980. The Irmela Wendt School for language training has been based in Pottenhausen since 1980. The soccer division of the sports clubs in the two villages was merged in 1995 to form FSG '95 due to a lack of young talent.
