The cemetery hall in Waddenhausen was supposed to be demolished in 2017. The Bürgerertreff Waddenhausen eV and its members then took over the hall and began renovating it in May 2017.

Waddenhausen is a district of the Lippe town of Lage in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until it was incorporated into Lage on January 1, 1970, Waddenhausen was an independent municipality.

history

The name of the village came from the old German word Vvadtenhuson , which appeared for the first time in 1070. This name later developed into Wadenhusen (1239) and finally Waddenhausen (1550). Waddenhausen is one of the original communities and goes back to the first settlement of Germanic tribes.

It is a widespread mistake that the Reinholdi market takes place on Pottenhauser Grund. In reality, the property on which the fair is held belongs to Waddenhausen. The Reinholdi market takes place on the first weekend in October from Friday to Monday. If the day of German reunification is the previous Thursday or the following Tuesday, this will also be included. It's a big fair with loads of rides that traditionally come every year.

The "Reinholdi-Markt" has been held there for more than 75 years. It began with a "Luna Park", which was organized by the innkeeper Reinhold Radtke from Saturday, October 13, 1929 to Monday, October 15, 1928, at the Siekkrug in order to increase the utilization of his economy.

The fairground for the Reinholdi market is opposite the Landgasthaus Siekkrug, which has existed since 1601. The Siekkrug, on the other hand, belongs to Pottenhausen .

religion

The Evangelical Reformed believers in Waddenhausen belong to the parish in Sylbach .

education

In Waddenhausen there is a primary school and a kindergarten with U-3 supervision.

traffic

The Sylbach stop on the Herford – Altenbeken railway line ( KBS 405 ) is right on the city limits of Bad Salzuflen . It is served every hour by the RB  72 "Ostwestfalen-Bahn" Herford - Lage - Detmold - Altenbeken - Paderborn . Because of its location in the neighboring town, it is only assigned to the Bad Salzuflen tariff area; Tickets at the city tariff for Lage are therefore not valid for this rail connection (the other way round, this results in a cheaper tariff for trips to Bad Salzuflen).

Waddenhausen is connected every hour by a bus with the city center of Lages and the Oerlinghausen train station (at the city rate).

Public facilities

Behind the local elementary school is the smallest outdoor swimming pool in the Lippe district, the so-called "puddle".

societies

In Waddenhausen there are several clubs, such as the RSV Waddenhausen with its own running and cycling club, the Bürgerertreff Waddenhausen eV (village community, boules alley, village square and cemetery hall) and the children and youth initiative Waddenhausen eV, which among other things has the outdoor pool with the nickname " Puddle ”. In 2020, the Bürgerertreff Waddenhausen eV won the Lippe district's home award, endowed with 5000 euros.
