Location of Cappel in North Rhine-Westphalia

Cappel is a district of Lippstadt in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Soest . The place through which the state road L 822 leads lies west of the core town of Lippstadt.

The Lippe , a right tributary of the Rhine , flows through the village and the Glenne , a right tributary of the Lippe , on the western outskirts .

To the southwest lies the Lippeaue nature reserve between Göttingen and Cappel and to the south the Lippeaue nature reserve (SO-007) .

Administrative history

The municipality of Cappel belonged to the Principality of Lippe until 1920 and then to the Free State of Lippe until 1947 . From 1947 to 1949 Cappel belonged to the district of Detmold in the administrative district of Detmold and was then reclassified as an independent municipality in the district of Lippstadt . On January 1, 1975, Cappel was incorporated into Lippstadt.
